New kitchen look, fraction of the cost. Cabinet painting is one of the best-value projects a homeowner can do — and we do it really well.
Get a Free EstimateKitchen and bathroom cabinet refinishing is one of those projects where the before and after photos are almost hard to believe. Solid wood or MDF cabinets in good structural condition can be transformed completely — same boxes, totally different look — at a cost that's typically 70–80% less than full cabinet replacement.
Painters Lane LLC provides cabinet painting and refinishing services across Minneapolis, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and the Twin Cities metro. We've done kitchens of all sizes — from a small galley kitchen in a condo to large open kitchens with islands and floor-to-ceiling uppers. The process matters enormously with cabinets, and we take our time to do it right.
We come out, assess the condition of your cabinets, and give you a detailed quote. We'll let you know honestly if your cabinets are good candidates for painting.
Doors and drawers are removed and taken to our work area. Boxes are masked and all surfaces are degreased. Grease is the enemy of cabinet paint adhesion.
We sand for adhesion, fill any imperfections, and apply a bonding primer. This step is what makes the finish last.
Two coats of Sherwin-Williams cabinet enamel, allowing proper dry time between coats. We aim for a smooth, factory-like finish.
Doors and drawers go back on, hardware is reinstalled, and we do a final inspection with you to make sure everything looks perfect.
Cabinet painting cost depends primarily on the number of doors and drawer fronts, whether you want the interior of cabinets painted, and any hardware upgrades. Rough ranges for the Twin Cities:
Compare this to new cabinets (typically $15,000–$50,000 for a full kitchen) — refinishing gives you a genuinely stunning result at a fraction of the cost.
Cabinet refinishing projects are backed by our tiered workmanship warranty:
For most homeowners, yes — by a wide margin. If your cabinets are structurally solid (doors hang properly, boxes are intact, no water damage), cabinet painting makes a lot of sense. You get a completely transformed look, the ability to pick any color you want, and you keep the existing layout and storage.
We'll give you an honest assessment during the estimate. If your cabinets aren't good candidates for painting — if the wood is delaminating or heavily damaged — we'll tell you that upfront rather than take the job.
